Alliance One donates to MFR

Alliance One Tobacco Malawi Limited , on Monday donated assorted medical equipment  towards Mother’s Fun Run (MFR)as a way of supporting neonatal and maternal health in the country.

The equipment handed over to the Nation Publications Limited (NPL) annual initiative, comprises 12 digital BP machines, 5 Nebulizer machines and 10 wheelchairs with fixed arms.

Speaking during the handover ceremony to MFR, the company’s cooperate affairs manager, Francoise Malila, said that the company believes in good health, hence its support to MFR.

She said: “As a company we also have our own projects in different areas including health and when we saw that NPL is into MFR which promotes access to good maternal and neonatal health services, we decided to join hands with them in our own small way which, I believe, will make a difference in the end.”

Malila also called on NPL to join some of the projects Alliance One is doing under their corporate social responsibility arrangements.

Speaking during handover ceremony of the equipment, business development manager for NPL Chimwemwe Jere, said that Alliance One’s donation will go a long way in alleviating challenges in the maternal and neonatal health service delivery systems in Chitipa and Mulanje, which are the districts marked to benefit from this year’s initiative. 

In response to the request from the corporate affairs manager for Alliance One, jere said NPL cherishes efforts that are aimed at improving people’s lives in different areas and would be glad to partner with them. 

He said: “You may just need to outline the areas you are working in and the sort of support  that may be required; we would be glad to join hands.”
